These cruises typically last between 5 and 7 days and depart from the Cape Liberty Cruise Port in New Jersey, which is less than an hour’s drive away from New York City. You can't visit Bermuda without tasting Gosling's Black Seal Rum. And luckily, it's a main ingredient in a ton of Bermuda favorites. Explore underwater wreck sites and vibrant reefs at Tobacco Bay or in the waters near the Royal Naval Dockyard. This part of the Atlantic is home to the most shipwrecks in the region. While you're down there, you can see barracudas, parrot fish and angelfish, as well as many species of colorful coral.
Review Of Norwegian Breakaway
Warm, glass-clear water and the fact that many of the wrecks lie in as little as 30 feet of water make Bermuda a dream for novice divers, too. You should see blue angelfish, parrotfish, spiny lobster, silvery jacks, wrasse, and graceful eagle rays, as well as coral in brilliant colors. There’s also a lot of the classic Carnival fun that repeat cruisers ( hey there!) know and love. For the kids, there’s spaces just right for their age like Camp Ocean™, Circle “C”® and Club O2®.

The historic St. George can also be reached via ferry for a day of exploring this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Many cruise ships even spend one or two overnight stays giving cruisers more time to explore. Carnival Sunshine®
Carnival trips are all about letting loose and having a good time. Maybe you'll drink a little too much, eat a little too much, play a little too much — but in the end, you'll say it was your best trip ever. Carnival is the undisputed leader among North America-based cruise brands when it comes to affordability, which makes it popular with vacationers on a budget. The overarching idea for Carnival's ship deployments is that a large percentage of the U.S. population can reach one of the line's ships by car, saving the cost of flights. Entertainment, at times, is as lowbrow as the line is low-cost. This is, after all, the brand that for many years held a Hairy Chest Contest around the pool deck on every voyage, to a standing-room-only, hooting and hollering crowd.

Call us supernatural, but we’re sensing vacation fun in your future. A Cloud 9 Spa Suite is the ultimate in both stateroom and spa accommodations.

They include Lip Sync Battle Carnival — a shipboard adaptation of the Paramount Network TV series — and Hasbro, the Game Show. Every Carnival ship has one big theater where you'll often find flashy, fast-paced production shows that string together a medley of loosely related tunes. Designed to be quick and digestible, they typically last around 30 minutes and have relatively small casts (just eight on some ships).
THE ULTIMATE PLAYGROUND
Playlist Productions™ takes songs you know and presents them like you’ve never known them before. Past favorites become full-blown musical productions featuring multi-talented performers absolutely bringing down the house with song, dance... With tunes from fan-favorite divas, crooners or rockers, each show has a different theme — and of course, a completely different playlist!
The quality of the food (and drink) on Carnival ships always surprises us, given the budget pricing of the brand. Despite being one of the industry's lowest-cost operators, Carnival manages to pull off one of the best steakhouses at sea in Fahrenheit 555, and even the no-extra-charge main restaurants get the basics right. The latter venue was created in partnership with Food Network's Guy Fieri and serves a free lunch on embarkation and sea days, with all items smoked on board. Most of these six ships (all but Carnival Venezia) have an a la carte barbecue-and-beer joint called Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, too. Other extra-charge eateries often found on Carnival vessels include Bonsai, an a la carte sushi restaurant (now on 14 ships), and JiJi Asian Kitchen, which costs $24 per person (now on four ships). Like other big-ship operators, Carnival packs a lot of dining options onto its vessels — some included in the price, some at an extra charge.
Porthole
However, for many years it chose not to follow rivals such as Royal Caribbean and MSC Cruises in building ever-bigger ships. Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration are now the only Carnival ship on the list of the 50 biggest cruise ships. You’ll do more than just pass the time as you sail from port to port. The ship sailed out of Barcelona on Thursday for a 14-night transatlantic voyage to Port Canaveral. When it debuted more than 20 years ago, Sally Ride, the first American woman in space, was named its godmother. Its space-themed pedigree extends to enhancements added to the youth area Camp Ocean, which now has a large video wall for its Space Cruisers program.
Travel Documentation and Online Check-in
Created in partnership with Food Network's Guy Fieri, Guy's Burger Joint offers burgers that beat anything you'll find around the pool on other mass-market ships and even most luxury vessels. Note that Carnival's two oldest ships — those that are part of the 1990s-built Fantasy Class — have relatively few balcony cabins by today's standards. (After retrofitting, several have around 150 balcony cabins, out of a total of more than 1,000 cabins in all.) In part because of this, Carnival has been phasing these ships out of its fleet in recent years.
Carnival fans are quite peeved about this, and you should be, too. Most Carnival ships have self-serve launderettes on cabin decks with washing machines, dryers, irons and ironing boards. The launderettes also have vending machines that dispense small boxes of detergent and water softener at $1.50 per box. Carnival adds an automatic service gratuity of $16 to $18 per person, per day to final bills, depending on the cabin category (children under the age of 2 are exempt). If you are unhappy with the service you receive, you can adjust this amount at the Guest Services desk before disembarking.
In short, there's a ton to do up top on Carnival vessels — and it's almost all available to every passenger on board the vessels at no extra charge (the roller coaster is the only exception). In fact, when it comes to waterslides on ships, Carnival is the cruise world's king. There's now at least one waterslide on all but one ship in the Carnival fleet (Carnival Luminosa) — something no other line can say. In recent years, Carnival also has deployed two of its vessels to Australia to operate voyages from Sydney and Brisbane. In a departure from Carnival's American-focused business model, the Australia sailings are aimed mostly at the local Australian market, though they are open to American travelers. For the most part, Carnival ships sail relatively short voyages of three to eight nights.
Carnival ships are all about fun, in a lively, let's-not-take-this-too-seriously sort of way. Whether you use a travel agent or not, make sure to maximize your credit card points when paying for the cruise by using a credit card that offers extra points for travel purchases. This could be the Chase Sapphire Reserve, which offers 3 Ultimate Rewards points on travel and dining (excluding the annual $300 travel credit). There's also the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, which brings 2 Ultimate Rewards points on travel and 3 Ultimate Rewards points on dining.
There's almost always a piano bar that's home to lively singalongs. You'll find at least one of its ships sailing out of pretty much every major port city around the country. The arrival of Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration over the past two years has marked a major turning point for the line.
In Grand Central you're never far from great dining spots like Bonsai Sushi™ and Bonsai Teppanyaki™, plus feel-good entertainment like Piano Bar 88™ and The Punchliner Comedy Club™. Balcony staterooms are proof that while it’s great to be cruisey… on vacation, breeziness is a virtue too. And any time you’re in your well-appointed Balcony stateroom aboard Mardi Gras®, you’re just steps away from the outdoors by way of your private open-air oasis.
Ocean Suites also include VIP check-in, walk-in closet and bathroom with whirlpool tub. Aft-View Extended Balcony staterooms feature a larger balcony for more lounge-around room, more kick-back space... Not to even mention some of the best stern-side views you'll find anywhere. Get ready to relax as you gaze upon Carnival Conquest's gentle wake from your spacious balcony.
Rudi’s Seagrill™ is the brainchild of cookbook author and master chef Rudi Sodamin. He has years of experience pleasing palates of vacationers… and this guy loves serving up a smile as much as Carnival does! But he’s serious about seafood, and an evening at Rudi’s proves it through the courses.
But you could easily forget, because when you're at Serenity you could not be further from it all. The world you'll find yourself in is one of complete peace, sea breezes and, of course, a nearby bar. It's the place to get done the kind of stuff you just can't seem to do anywhere else — reconnect with your partner, finish that book, or do absolutely, blissfully, nothing at all. Also, there are always several music venues where you'll find live performers in the afternoons and evenings, including — on some ships — the Atrium Bar and a secondary hub area called Ocean Plaza.
You can expect a space ratio of 59 gross tons per passenger on this ship. The ceremony was physically attended by Roberto Martinoli (Silversea) and Luigi Matarazzo (Fincantieri), and remotely/via video feeds by Richard Fain (RCG's Chairman and CEO) and Jason Liberty (RCG's Executive VP and CFO). Due to the Coronavirus crisis, Silversea postponed Silver Dawn's inauguration for 2022.

Rest and renewal is a big part of the Otium philosophy; new beds showcase specially designed Otium mattresses and crisp Italian linens. Butlers draw (battery-powered) candlelit aromatherapy baths post-treatment and present a wooden tray with champagne and a handmade macaron. I loved the Otium comfort-food room service menu, with treats like truffled popcorn and foie gras burger on brioche, among several selections. As a traveler who spends much time in the UK and Europe, I really enjoy meeting passengers and making friends with those living outside the United States.
Alas, bliss is not included in your cruise fare, nor does it come cheap. The most inexpensive massage costs $209, and the 100-minute Otium massage runs $399, with gratuities included. Such fees are not atypical on luxury ships, but the steep prices can be a buzzkill for some. One evening, I rang in-suite dining to order a lobster salad starter for dinner. "Oh no," said the gentleman answering my call, with genuine anguish. "You must order something else. Please, have an entree, too." So I added grilled prawns, to which he replied, "What about dessert? Anything else I can get you? Have a wonderful evening." His caring tone of voice was unmistakable.

New lengthier Med-inspired treatments like facials and massages rule, with 100-minutes proving popular. Post-massage, I was so relaxed, I pushed the elevator button for the wrong floor. All passengers can enjoy the steam rooms and saunas of Otium Thermal Suite complimentarily. Food cruisers' biggest pet peeve is when a ship departs a port before dinnertime, meaning you can't score a fabulous meal ashore. However, with S.A.L.T. Kitchen, you can experience a relatively authentic dinner on board.
Deck 11
If food is not your thing, you can skip as much of S.A.L.T. as you want (although it would be a shame not to at least have one meal at the Kitchen, and you'll regret not having at least one drink in the atmospheric bar). The S.A.L.T. Kitchen, however, is truly ambitious and different than what you find on any other cruise ship, let alone a luxury one. The menu in this restaurant changes almost daily, depending on the port, and the wines here, too, are locally sourced. A complete cocktail menu comprising local spirits is located next door at the S.A.L.T. Bar. That's not to say that there is anything wrong with the old favorites. Atlantide still has a massive menu full of luxury dishes, with gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options.

We found our butler to be a tad tentative and reactive; there wasn't the same anticipatory service that we experienced on past Silversea sailings. Still, we found that our butler was eager to show off the new Otium in-suite services and all in all, the pampering was still there if you wanted it. Hi, my name is Valerie, and I fell in love with London on my first trip to the city way back in 2011. While it’s often overlooked, one of the most iconic and defining features of London is the River Thames. This waterway flows from deep in the heart of southern England to the English Channel in the west. As it flows through London, the Thames is a wide snake, creating the geography of the city with the Southbank on one side, Westminster and the City on the other. Return TicketWith a return ticket you can go one way, take in some of the sights around the pier and then take the same route back. In other words, there is no reason to worry about safety while enjoying a cruise ride.
Best Thames river cruises in London
Other positive comments mention that you will probably get wet while on this excursion, so it’s best experienced during hot days. If you’re looking for a quicker boat tour, you might want to consider one of the hop-on, hop-off options. You can choose to purchase one single ride, a discounted return ticket, or a 24-hour travel pass with unlimited rides. If you’re looking for a boat tour or cruise that will allow you the freedom to explore at your own pace, consider one of the following companies. Like many cities, there are also lunch and dinner cruises available on the Thames River.
Guests have the option to pay for a one-way ticket or round-trip fare as well as a hop-on, hop-off ticket (through Circular Cruises). There are a total of ten different tours offered out of Westminster, Greenwich, and St. Katharine's. Most reviews are very positive, stating that it is great value for the money. Exact departure times depend on which pier you wish to depart from. Both are close to popular tube stations, so you can easily see the rest of the city after paying a visit to either institution.

Much like their competitor, they also offer a Thames River cruise pass through City Cruises. Most reviews are very positive, and comments about this specific combo package tend to be favorable. When it comes to its dining cruises, this company has received fairly high ratings on TripAdvisor.

City cruises operate on a hop-on, hop-off basis and run from Westminster, Waterloo, Tower and Greenwich Piers with commentary along the way. All the departure points are convenient for the city’s various sights, with Greenwich Pier ideal for the Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Observatory. Thames River Sightseeing stands out not only for the diverse tours they provide but also for their boats. The company has an impressive fleet of twelve boats, including the Thomas Doggett, The Mercuria, and the Sarpedon. You don’t have to book a touristy cruise to experience the Thames from up close. You can also take one of the many transit cruises locals use to commute every day from different parts of the city.
Many landmarks are right on the banks of the river, and that’s why a cruise offers a vantage point to see these iconic buildings. As you’ll read in a minute, you’ll see that cruises are also an excellent opportunity to avoid crowds at the tube. A majority of the reviews are positive, but experiences with this tour company are a bit more mixed than other services in the same range. To experience more than just the river that runs through this beautiful city, you’ll want to consider combining a cruise with either walking tours or bus tours.
Tower Pier
This cruise service has been in operation for several years, but they don’t have a lot of reviews. This circular loop cruise allows you to hop on and off whenever you wish so that you can get a better look at the sites located all along the Thames. Most passengers love this form of transportation, so chances are that it’s very reliable. There is only one complaint thus far, and it focuses on the length of time it may take to get tickets onto the boat. When you purchase, look for the RB2 service, a central zone ticket price. Also, guests said that the boat went just fast enough to get from point A to point B efficiently while still being slow enough to enjoy sightseeing with the downloadable app.
The majority of cruises available on the Thames River are day cruises on larger boats taking in London's historic sights. River enthusiasts can find overnight cruises up to a week in length on luxury barges like European Waterways' eight-passenger, 117-foot Magna Carta. Turk Launches is one of the oldest companies you’re likely to come across in London. This family-run company has been in the riverboats scene for over 300 years. Their rides last 40 minutes and take you to explore the stunning stretch of the river Thames.
We're not sure how much you'll actually be able to see, but there are plenty more leisurely-paced tours for that sorta thing. It's time to ditch dry land and hop aboard a Thames river boat tour. And plenty of London’s top attractions are best seen from the water – so get your camera ready. Try a Thames river cruise – and no, we’re not talking about the Clippers (well we are, but only a little bit). There are few better ways to take in the capital than by its famously choppy, murky central waterway.
It's a three-hour cruise, where you can see the greener, quieter side of London along with the exciting hustle and bustle of its high-rises and busy streets. As you glide beneath the timeless arches of its famous bridges, past the majestic landmarks that dot its banks, you'll witness the city's story unfold in a breathtaking panorama. The journey time from Tower Bridge Quay to Westminster Pier is 20 minutes. Always confirm with ticket office or crew as to the time of the last boat. By land and by sea, you can uncover a treasure trove of exhibits on the Red Rover Cruise. Enjoy stunning vistas from the Thames, and easily hop off to explore London's most beloved sites.
Starting in 1999 with just one boat in operation, our fleet has grown exponentially to 20 high-speed Thames river boats, offering services from all major London piers every minutes. Our services cater for everyone from early morning commuters to night-time passengers. There are countless reasons to choose a London River Bus over any other form of transport – choose a Thames river cruise next time you need to travel through London. I’ve journeyed along the Thames many ways, including on those more focused on commuting.
Keep your eyes peeled for the Gherkin, London’s famous pickle-shaped skyscraper. Marking the end of the City of London is the iconic Tower Bridge and the imposing Tower of London. We provide a free live or recorded commentary in English on each Sightseeing cruise. When you arrive for your cruise please walk straight down onto the pier. Where you will be greeted by our pier staff, have your ticket ready to be then directed to your boarding point.
Operating throughout the year, rain or shine, river cruises are one of the most convenient ways to sightsee in London. There are a variety of different types available, ranging from slow-moving dinner or afternoon tea cruises to handy hop-on, hop-off cruises and adrenaline-pumping speedboat journeys James Bond style. Pick the right one for you and enjoy discovering the city from London’s iconic waterway. A good river cruise for those who want a spot of grub while taking in the sights along the Thames – Bateaux offer a full range of different dining cruises. There’s the lunch, afternoon tea and dinner cruise – or you could really pull the stops out and enjoy their three-course lunch with a live jazz band playing assorted swingin’ classics.

How Much Cruise Lines Spend on Food (Less Than You Think?)
Cruise ship balcony cabins are the most popular cabin category. So many travelers choose this type of cruise ship cabin that some ships put private verandas on all their outside cabins. That's a recent trend; the oldest ships in a cruise line's fleet might have more ocean-view rooms than balcony cabins, while the newest ships will have mainly balcony rooms. A "suite" can mean you have (1) a small sitting area, (2) a curtain to separate the bed from the sitting area, or (3) a separate bedroom.

Of course, the figures will change from ship to ship, but you can expect to see the trend on many cruise lines. Pioneered by Norwegian Cruise Line, solo traveler cabins are becoming more common across the industry. Whereas for many years solo cabins were usually interior grade, there are now oceanview and even balcony cabins available for solo travelers on some lines. Choosing your cruise ship cabin or stateroom is an essential part of planning a dream cruise vacation. The right accommodation can enhance your cruise experience, providing you with a comfortable retreat after a day of adventure, but some choices may turn out to be an expensive mistake. Cabins on the front of the ship get the most motion and appeal to those who feel they are "real" sailors.
Suite Staterooms
There is no inherently bad cabin to pick, so it is a matter of choosing the right room that you can afford and would feel comfortable staying in. These rooms are few and far between, and often book quickly because of demand. Not every ship has one, and some ships only have a few rooms. These rooms usually cost a bit more than an inside room, and offer natural light. Beyond that, the room you select may offer more amenities, but you should know that a cabin has some basics that you do not have to be concerned about missing out on.
The vast majority of balcony rooms are standard balcony cabins or slightly larger rooms along either side of a cruise ship -- the port and starboard sides. Among the most over-the-top suites are Norwegian Cruise Line's 5,000-plus-square-foot, three-bedroom Garden Villa suites on its Jewel-class ships. These each feature a private terrace with a hot tub, spacious living and dining areas, and butler service, plus access to an exclusive-access deck area. Other suites may come with dining areas, wet bars, deluxe bathrooms, walk-in closets, multiple levels and even pianos. This is because they sometimes incorporate the oddly angled interior spaces that exist at the front of ships, which often have slanted fronts.
Where this can be especially helpful is hanging clothes to dry. And while there is a small clothesline in the bathroom, it is usually only large enough for a towel or a couple of swimsuits. It can get breezy on the ship, especially if the ship is underway. All it takes is one gust of wind and your towels and swimsuits are taking a ride down to the ocean, never to be seen again. You can order room service on the ship or simply grab a dish from the buffet and take it back to your room.
That said, you can employ a variety of smart cruise ship cabin hacks to improve on the basic cabin design. Not all accessible cabins are the same, so do your research before booking. Some cruise lines, such as Norwegian Cruise Line and MSC Cruises, create special restaurants, lounges and sun decks exclusive to suite residents. This lets passengers avoid crowded public areas and enjoy fine dining in a less frenetic setting than the main dining room.
All of this comes at an increased price that usually is significantly more than lower categories of rooms. The decor is designed to appeal to everyone, no matter their personal tastes, with mellow or nautical colors and nothing too distracting. Storage space is often at a premium, and a cruise ship cabin's bathroom is likely far smaller than yours at home. Or maybe you’re most excited about a particular specialty restaurant. Depending on where you plan to spend most of your time, you may have a preference of which venue or part of the ship you prefer to call home. Deck plans vary by ship and can be a helpful tool for picking your stateroom.
In this case, having a balcony will offer a sanctuary for when you need some time to recharge or just have some downtime on a longer cruise. The holy grail of the frequent traveler is the complimentary, or at least cheap, upgrade to a nicer airline seat or hotel room than they paid for. You might wonder if there are tricks to accomplish the same on a cruise. Suites are not only about spacious digs, but also about the VIP perks and privileges that come with the booking. Over years of cruising, there are a few cabin items that we’ve found can make your cruise more comfortable. These items aren’t must-haves, but you’ll often be happy you brought them.
